🧠 Keep Your Brain Curious

Our brains enjoy being challenged.

Learning something new, solving problems, trying unfamiliar activities or simply being curious all help keep our minds active throughout life.

The important thing isn’t becoming an expert.

It’s continuing to explore, discover and enjoy learning.

Every new skill, hobby or experience gives your brain something new to work with.

🌱 Getting Started

👣 Next Steps

If it’s been a while since you learnt something new, don’t worry.

Curiosity doesn’t have an age limit.

Choose one or two ideas that interest you.

  • Read about a topic you’ve always wondered about.
  • Learn a few words in another language.
  • Try a new recipe.
  • Explore a new place in your local area.
  • Learn to use a new app or piece of technology.
  • Start a puzzle, quiz or word game.

The best learning happens when you’re interested.

Don’t worry about what you “should” learn.

Instead, choose something that makes you think:

“I’ve always wondered how that works…”

Learning should be enjoyable, not another chore.

đź’ Take a Moment to Reflect

Think back over the past year.

When did you last learn something that genuinely surprised or interested you?

What would you enjoy learning next?

Remember, it doesn’t have to be useful.

Learning for pleasure is valuable too.

Spend just 15 minutes this week learning something new.

Watch a documentary.

Read an article.

Try a new recipe.

Learn a new skill.

Small moments of curiosity soon become lifelong habits.

âť“ Common Question

I’m not very academic. Does this still apply to me?

Absolutely.

Learning isn’t about passing exams.

It’s about keeping your brain active by exploring new ideas, skills and experiences.

🎯 Milestone

I’ve rediscovered the enjoyment of learning something new.

👣 Building Confidence

You’ve already started challenging your brain.

Now the aim is to make learning a regular part of your life.

👣 Next Steps

  • Continue exploring new interests.
  • Build learning into your weekly routine.
  • Share what you’ve learnt with someone else.
  • Don’t worry about making mistakes—they’re part of learning.

Many people learn better in small, regular sessions than trying to do everything at once.

Even ten or fifteen minutes a few times each week soon adds up.

Learning with friends or family can also make it more enjoyable.

đź’ Take a Moment to Reflect

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Those are often the hobbies worth developing further.

âť“ Common Question

Does doing crosswords count?

Yes.

Crosswords, puzzles and games all challenge the brain.

Even better is combining them with learning new skills, meeting new people and staying physically active.

🎯 Milestone

Learning has become a regular part of my week.

🪧 Keeping Your Mind Active

You’re already keeping your brain engaged.

Now it’s about continuing to stretch yourself.

👣 Next Steps

  • Keep trying unfamiliar experiences.
  • Vary your hobbies.
  • Teach someone something you’ve learnt.
  • Continue exploring new ideas.

Our brains enjoy variety.

If you’ve always read the same type of books, try something different.

Visit a museum.

Attend a local talk.

Listen to a podcast about a subject you’ve never explored before.

Small changes help keep curiosity alive.

đź’ Take a Moment to Reflect

When did you last surprise yourself?

Could you do something this month that feels just a little outside your comfort zone?

âť“ Common Question

Do I need to keep increasing the challenge?

Not necessarily.

The aim isn’t to make life difficult.

It’s simply to keep giving your brain new experiences to enjoy.

🎯 Milestone

Curiosity has become one of my healthy habits.

🌳 Lifelong Learning

You’ve built a wonderfully curious brain.

Now the aim is simply to keep enjoying it.

👣 Next Steps

  • Continue exploring new interests.
  • Share your knowledge with others.
  • Stay open to new ideas.
  • Never stop asking questions.

Some of the most enjoyable learning happens by accident.

Be open to unexpected opportunities.

Say yes to new experiences.

Remain curious.

đź’ Take a Moment to Reflect

Looking back over the last few years…

What new skills have given you the greatest enjoyment?

What might you like to learn next?

âť“ Common Question

Is it ever too late to learn something new?

Never.

People continue learning throughout their lives.

Every new experience gives your brain another opportunity to grow and adapt.

🎯 Milestone

Learning and curiosity have become part of who I am.
