Wraysbury: “Wraysbury is a picturesque village in Berkshire, located on the banks of the River Thames near Windsor. Known for its historic charm, it features landmarks like St. Andrew’s Church, Wraysbury Reservoir, and connections to the Magna Carta. The village offers a blend of rural tranquility and convenient transport links, including proximity to Heathrow Airport and major road networks.“
Horton: “Horton is a small village in the Thames Valley, nestled between Windsor and Heathrow. It evolved from farming settlements and is home to historical landmarks such as the 12th-century St. Michael’s Church and several listed buildings. Associated with poet John Milton, who wrote many of his works while living there, the village lies along the Colne Brook and was once the site of a foundry that provided copper for the Copper Horse on the Long Walk.“
Resilience: “In terms of community, resilience refers to the ability of a group of people to adapt, recover, and thrive in the face of challenges, crises, or changes. It involves strong social bonds, effective leadership, access to resources, and a shared commitment to maintaining and improving the community’s well-being. Resilient communities are able to withstand disruptions, learn from adversity, and emerge stronger through collaboration and innovation.”

Wraysbury & Horton Resilience is a dedicated group of local volunteers focused on safeguarding the community and environment from potential risks while working to reduce those risks. Through collaboration with public sector organisations and local voluntary groups, the group strengthens community well-being and cohesion. Their efforts ensure a proactive and united approach to protecting and enhancing life in Wraysbury & Horton.

We securely hold the Wraysbury & Horton Vulnerable Residents Register
The Vulnerable Register was created in response to the flooding of part of the village in 2023. It was realised the flood team, and emergency services, should they be involved, had no way to know which affected residents were vulnerable.
Following the flooding it was decided to expand the list to encompass the whole of Wraysbury & Horton, and to broaden the scope from flooding, to any potential disaster that might befall our community.
Anyone from the community can join the register, if they feel themselves to be potentially vulnerable. We keep in touch with them intermittently to ensure everything is OK, and to ensure the list is maintained and up to date. To join the list yourself or for your next of kin, call us on 07808 654321 or call in to one of our public sessions.

Resilience Planning
In partnership with Wraysbury and Horton Parish Councils, we are working to prepare our community to better respond to challenging events. We work with other local organisations and the community to ensure we have practical plans to help us all in the event of community-wide events such as:
Flooding
Extreme Heat
Extreme Winter Weather
Power loss for extended duration
